Just south of the town of Antimony is a dirt road that pretty much follows the Antimony Creek and some good fishing in the spring just after the snow run off dies. It is a small stream with only primitive camping. If you follow the dirt road up the mountain it will take a four wheel drive to get to Antimony Lake which has cutthroat trout and brook trout with only primitive camping as well. On cedar Mountain near Navajo Lake is Aspen Mirror Lake. This lake is closed in winter to early spring around January 1 through April 24th. This lake contains rainbow trout. West of St George one mile east of U-18 on the Santa Clara River is Baker Reservoir. This reservoir has brown trout and rainbow trout. There is a small camp ground there also. Take highway 12 to Escalante and go 12 miles north to Baker Lake. This lake has brook trout and rainbow trout and there is no boat ramps on this lake. There is a near by camp ground. Beaver River has brown trout and rainbow trout and portions of the river are closed in wintewr. There are also two parts that contain a large number of fish one is above the town of Beaver along highway 153 and the other is west of Beaver below Minersville Reservoir.Blind Lake has brook trout, rainbow trout and splake. to get to this lake go about 10 miles on a very rough dirt road and then hike for 1 1/2 miles off of highway 12 in the Boulder Mountains. There are record size splake in this lake and no boats with motors are allowed. There will be another article on fishing southern Utah waters so come back and see the other places to fish.
