Which Rig To Use

Rig is the word used to anglers for tring up tackle like leaders, sinkers, swivels, hooks and lures. There around five different rigs used in fishing and they are designed fairly simply and are used for specific types of fishing. One of the most used is the still fishing rig it can be fished from boats, shore, bridges and peirs. You can still fish on the bottom or off the bottom for a variety of species. The equipment and size of hooks and bait you use depends on what type of fish you are fishing for. Patience is the key to still fishing because you wait for a fish to bite your bait. Then there is the drift fishing rig which allows you to fish over a variety of habitats as you drift on the bottom or change the depth with bobbers or floats. Natural baits work best for drifting but jigs, lures and artifical flies will work well also. Now we are at the live lining rig for fishing. Live lining off the bottom allows your bait to drift with the current through holes and rocks where the fish may be holding. Use live or prepared baits work best and keep them off the bottom. Now we are at the trolling rig which is used with bait casting reels or spinning reels. The speed of the boat determines the depth of the bait. trolling is done by using a small electric motor that moves the boat quietly through the water not to spook the fish. It depends on the depth of the bait on what type of fish you will catch. The last of the five rigs is the bottom bouncing rig. This rig is done from a drifting or trolling boat. Use a natural bait or a bucktail jig and drag it across the bottom this causes the lure to bounce along the bottom stirring up small clouds of sand or mud and will help trigger a bite.
